Blue Jays Recall RHP Dillon Tate from Triple-A, Option Luis Frias

Tate Pitches 4.1 Scoreless Innings in Buffalo

The Blue Jays have recalled right-handed pitcher Dillon Tate from Triple-A Buffalo. To make room on the active roster, the Blue Jays have optioned right-handed pitcher Luis Frias to Buffalo. Tate, 28, has made four starts for Buffalo this season, posting a 2.35 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 24 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched. He has not allowed a run in his last 4.1 innings pitched.

Player Background

Tate was acquired by the Blue Jays from the New York Yankees in the J.A. Happ trade in 2018. He made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 2019 and has spent time with the Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and Texas Rangers. Frias, 26, has made one start for the Blue Jays this season, allowing four runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings pitched. He has a 5.56 ERA, 1.71 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 14.1 innings pitched for Buffalo this season. The Blue Jays are scheduled to face the New York Yankees in a three-game series beginning on Tuesday at Rogers Centre.
