Lallana Eyes Pre-Season Return, De Zerbi Rules Him Out of Brighton Return
Albion Midfielder Hopes to Boost Team's Survival Bid
Brighton Hove Albion's Adam Lallana is targeting a return to action before the end of the season, having been ruled out by head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Lallana has been sidelined since suffering a calf injury in Brighton's 3-0 defeat to Brentford on January 14. The midfielder has been a key figure for the Seagulls this season, making 17 appearances in all competitions.
De Zerbi has confirmed that Lallana will not be available for Brighton's upcoming Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday. However, the Italian boss hopes to have the 34-year-old back in contention before the end of the season.
"Adam is working hard to get back. He is not available for tomorrow's game, but we hope to have him back before the end of the season," De Zerbi said.
Lallana's return would be a major boost for Brighton, who are currently embroiled in a relegation battle. The Seagulls are 17th in the table, just one point above the drop zone.
Lallana is a vastly experienced player who has made over 300 Premier League appearances for Brighton, Liverpool and Southampton. His return to action could be crucial in helping Brighton avoid relegation.
